First Round of Clay Settlement Checks Have Been Sent

Status Update on Distribution of Funds from Settlement of Clay Class Action

          We have now completed the first stage of distribution of settlement funds from the Clay Class Action. If you have not received a check and believe you may be entitled to distribution from the settlement, please gather the following information and send it to my office by e-mail, facsimile (282-1234) or regular mail.
           To consider your individual claim, we will need:
                   1. Your name and current address
                   2. The address where service was received during September 1999 through February 2003 (if different fron the address in #1).
                   3. Your South Bend Water Works customer number or a copy of a water bill from the 1999-2003.

            With the above information, my office can take the steps necessary to verify your right to participate in the settlement and we will forward your first-stage check.

   In April 2009, we will complete the distribution by dividing the remaining funds among all approved claimants. The check in the April 2009 distribution will be for a smaller amount than the first-stage distribution.
